Sirmione (Lake Garda) weather in December

Early to mid-December is not snow-sure at Madonna di Campiglio, and the forum's reason is mechanical rather than meteorological: the snowmaking here is excellent but it needs cold to work, and early December does not always supply it - in which case only a limited number of pistes open. The ski area is the draw when it is running, with more than 150km of piste and 60 lifts linking Campiglio to Folgarida Marilleva and Pinzolo across Val di Sole and Val Rendena. The town itself has two faces daily - genuinely busy while the day-trippers are in, and like a different place entirely once they leave for the evening.
