Notas de viajantes sobre Goa em abril
Regulars call this genuinely hot and humid, the end of the main tourist season, with many beach shacks dismantled or in the process of coming down as the calendar turns toward the off-peak months. Our row backs the intense heat, 33.9C reading as a severe 40C at 73 percent humidity, over 25.4C nights, with rain still minimal at 8.7mm across 2.2 days. Regulars call the trade genuinely worthwhile for some - fewer crowds, emptier beaches, noticeably lower hotel rates than the December-February peak - provided air-conditioned accommodation is booked to handle the heat and humidity. The sea stays very warm at 29.9C. The record: 11.6 hours of sun, a 14.4 kph wind and AQI 76.

March is the end of the season here rather than the end of the party: the shacks and beach huts are still open, the season runs to April, and the crowds have thinned. What changes is the air. Regulars who happily skip air conditioning in November and December say they would not consider March without it, and our row explains that - 33.2C reading as 38C, with a dew point of 22.7C, so the humidity is draining by the middle of the month even at 69 percent. Rain is essentially nil, 5.6mm, and the sea is 28.9C. Anything walked or ridden belongs to the early morning. The record: 11.1 hours of sun, a 15.1 kph wind and AQI 84.
February closes the window regulars recommend, mid-November to mid-February, and their description is hot enough for the beach without the humidity: around 32C by day and low twenties at night, and no rain to speak of. Our row agrees - 33C reading as 36C at 64 percent humidity, 21.2C nights, 1.2mm of rain in the whole month and a 28C sea. The choice they want you to make is which half of the coast: north for nightlife and full beaches, south for space and quiet. One cost the boards rarely mention is in our air column, AQI 99 - the dry season here is also the hazy one, against 39 in September. The record: 10.7 hours of sun and a 14.8 kph wind.
Goa forum regulars call July the true peak of monsoon, height of the wet season and the least outdoor-friendly month: “the heaviest rainfall and the lowest number of 'sunshine' hours per day” of the whole year, with posters blunt that it's “definitely not a good time to visit...full on Monsoon time with nothing much to do outdoors.” Temperatures themselves actually cool from the pre-monsoon scorch — “24°C to 29°C” — but that's cold comfort under near-constant rain, which “could be raining a real lot on the days you are there.” The upside regulars name without irony: the landscape turns into a “verdant paradise,” hills and fields genuinely lush, and July sits deep in the off-season for real discounts on flights and hotels. Our record: 26.4°C days, 1165.8mm of rain across all 31 days and just 4.5 hours of sun — the wettest month by a wide margin, matching the “true monsoon peak” read exactly.
Goa forum regulars are blunt that June is close to the worst month to visit for a beach trip specifically: “beaches will be closed as the sea will be too rough,” “all shacks and markets are closed, and all beach activity will be finished for the season,” with rain most days — “22 days in June” on average, sometimes heavy for hours, occasionally with a multi-day dry stretch in between. What survives, and what regulars actually recommend the month for instead: waterfalls and rivers hit their most dramatic this time of year, a genuinely different Goa than the beach-town version most visitors expect. The honest upside beyond scenery: hotel discounts unavailable in peak season. Our record: 28.5°C days, 606.7mm of rain, 27.4 rain days and 86.2% humidity — the wettest month of the year by a wide margin, matching the “worst for beaches, best for waterfalls” read exactly.
