December at Nozawa Onsen is a question of which half. Posters describe mid-November highs closer to 11C and lows near 1C, cool enough that a light down jacket becomes genuinely useful, especially in higher mountain areas that can dip below 10C. Posters note snow becomes a real possibility in mountainous spots like Yudanaka onsen from late November onward, though one visitor's late-November trip found earlier snow had already melted by the time they arrived, and posters caution the main ski season doesn't really get going in Nagano until early December.
