A traveler's account of Sousse pushes back on the all-inclusive resort approach many visitors default to, arguing that staying inside a resort compound cuts you off from the medina, the traders, and the actual texture of the city, which is what makes Sousse stand out from purely beach-focused destinations. Her advice was to base yourself somewhere that lets you walk into the UNESCO-listed medina easily, where she found traders notably unpushy, letting her browse spices and souvenirs at her own pace rather than being hassled.
