The muggy humidity is the more constant feature. Divers heading out to Bunaken should note the real weather risk isn't rain but wind - a few posters mentioned choppy seas grounding dive boats on windier days, more than any rain shower would.
Forum posters describe August as nominally the middle of the dry season, but at least one visitor reported near-daily afternoon rain for almost two weeks despite that - a reminder that the 'dry' label doesn't guarantee dry days here. High wind and rough seas can also cancel dive boats on a given day. One geographic tip that comes up often: staying out on the islands (Bunaken, Siladen, Gangga) rather than the Manado mainland tends to mean less rain exposure.
