Visas & entry

A visitor's comparison of Colmar to its sister city Strasbourg came down firmly in Colmar's favor, finding it smaller, noticeably less crowded, and more relaxed overall despite Strasbourg's bigger reputation. Their timing tip: start early in the Old Town while the colorful timber-framed lanes are still quiet, then visit the Unterlinden Museum before lunch, since the town is compact enough to see most of it on foot within a single day if you front-load the wandering before the day-trip crowds arrive.
