Forum posters describe August as nominally the middle of the dry season, but at least one visitor reported near-daily afternoon rain for almost two weeks despite that - a reminder that the 'dry' label doesn't guarantee dry days here. High wind and rough seas can also cancel dive boats on a given day. One geographic tip that comes up often: staying out on the islands (Bunaken, Siladen, Gangga) rather than the Manado mainland tends to mean less rain exposure.
