交通出行
A guide to the Hon Thom Cable Car, the world's longest three-rope sea-crossing cable car at nearly 8km, recommends buying tickets at the departure station in person rather than booking online, since travelers have found better deals doing it that way despite the convenience of pre-booking. Their beach advice for after the ride: Sao Beach draws the crowds and the beach clubs, while Kem Beach offers a quieter, more secluded stretch of sand if the island's more social spots aren't the goal.
富国岛的旅人笔记

Forum posters consistently call January one of the best times to visit, squarely inside the November-March dry season and the island's peak season as a result - clear water, reliable sunshine and calm seas are the norm. One visitor specifically noted that despite weather apps repeatedly forecasting storms throughout their stay, the reality was mostly sunny with only the odd brief downpour, describing conditions as close to perfect. Posters recommend booking accommodation ahead given the popularity of this window, and generally rate Phu Quoc as a more kid-friendly beach option than mainland alternatives like Mui Ne thanks to its calmer January seas.
February sits in the middle of Phu Quoc's best stretch - the island's good months run November to April, with December to April the window regulars name for blue skies, clear water and the year's best diving. Their reports of late February are hot and mostly settled, with the useful aside that the mosquitoes were not a problem. The cost is that everyone else knows: February is peak season and flights and rooms want booking well ahead. Our own row is a little wetter than the framing suggests - 9.9 precipitation days carrying 37.7mm, so brief showers rather than settled rain. The rest: 31.3C days that feel like 36C, 23C nights, 10.7 hours of sun, a 28.8C sea and a 23 kph breeze.
March is inside Phu Quoc's dry high season - November to March on the strict reckoning, stretching to May on the generous one - and regulars call it a safe month: hot, sunny, blue sky, calm water. Our row gives 32.3C reading as 37C with a 29.4C sea. The island-specific advice is about which coast. The west is fine in March but is the side that turns rough and murky when the wind gets up or the wet season arrives; the east is more sheltered, and Khem Beach in its bay is the one they name for reliably clear, calm water. Our row still counts 14.7 precipitation days carrying only 50.7mm, which is the brief tropical shower rather than a wet month. The record: 24.2C nights, 11 hours of sun and a 21 kph wind.
Phu Quoc-forum threads on April weather describe it as sitting right at the edge of the low-rain season, still officially inside it but with humidity climbing and the occasional scattered storm creeping in as the wet season approaches. Posters are consistent that any given shower runs brief rather than disruptive, and the month keeps its reputation as pleasant for beach time - warm, sunny, with gentler crowds and prices than true peak season. The record actually runs wetter than most forum threads suggest for a nominally low-rain month, a reminder the wetter transition can arrive earlier in a given year than the calendar label implies. The record: 33C days feeling like a punishing 39C, 25.2C nights, a notably high 107mm across 18.4 days, 77 percent humidity, a 31.2C sea and 11.1 hours of sun.
Phu Quoc's forum calls July rainy season but not the peak of it, with rain most days though rarely an all-day washout, and rougher seas particularly on the island's west side. Regulars note conditions vary a lot by luck and by which coast you're on, with the calmer southeast side a better bet, and several suggest waiting for October or November if reliable beach weather matters more than the trip dates.
Regulars are specific this month splits into two real halves - early November still emerging from the rainy season with real showers and cloudy stretches possible, while conditions reliably improve from around mid-month onward into the warm, sunny weather the island is known for. Our row backs that hot, genuinely wet read, 31.5C reading as a scorching 36C, over 24.6C nights feeling 28C, with a substantial 138.8mm of rain across 18.2 days and humidity at 77 percent. Regulars are consistent this still counts as peak hotel season and one of the most popular windows to visit overall, any rain typically arriving in the evening rather than disrupting a full day. The sea sits at a bath-warm 30.1C. The record: 9.2 hours of sun, a 23.2 kph wind and AQI 45.
December is the dry season here, and the thing the board explains that no column can is wind direction. The northeast wind of the dry months, roughly November to May, leaves the west coast of the island calm and clear - which is where the sunsets are, and where they tell you to stay in December. Our wind column reads 25.8 kph, so it is a real wind, simply blowing off the land on that side. The rain has largely gone, 59.1mm across 10 days and mostly at night. On temperature our row runs warmer than their recollection: they say 25 to 27C, we read 30.8C reading as 34C at 71.8 percent humidity, over 23.6C nights, with a 29.4C sea. The record: 9.4 hours of sun and AQI 48.
