Divers shouldn't let that put them off though: water temperatures stay warm enough that a shorty wetsuit is plenty, and the diving itself isn't really affected by surface rain. The honest framing from regulars is that November is a gamble worth taking if the trip dates are otherwise fixed, not a month to specifically avoid.

Forum posters consistently call late April into May the sweet spot for Utila - 'not wet and not too hot,' with one poster warning that the rest of the year generally doesn't hold to that same balance. May itself is described as pleasantly quiet before the summer break crowds arrive, warm water temperatures rising through the month, and lower rainfall odds than most of the year barring a stray nearby storm. Posters recommend it specifically for diving and snorkeling given the combination of good visibility, comfortable conditions and thinner crowds compared to the busier winter high season.
