Notas de viajantes sobre Acapulco

O que dizem as pessoas que já foram — primeiro as notas sobre o ano todo, depois mês a mês.

Regulars make an unusually confident claim about this month: one visitor of fifteen years running says they have never seen a drop of rain in January here. Our row backs it almost to the letter, 11.2mm across 2.2 days, effectively a rounding error. Air runs warm rather than punishing, 33.2C reading as 37C at 74 percent humidity, over 20.3C nights - regulars put it in the mid-eighties by day and mid-seventies by evening, with humidity lower than the wet-season months. The sea holds a genuinely warm 27.7C, described as comfortable and refreshing rather than merely swimmable. This is also the quieter, cheaper half of the dry season before the peak-price crowds of February and March arrive. The record: 10.2 hours of sun, a 10.4 kph wind and AQI 41.

Acapulco's forum calls February close to perfect — sunny, clear skies, mid-80s°F by day, balmy mid-70s in the evening, and comparatively low humidity with essentially no rain. Regulars who've visited repeatedly in February report barely a cloudy morning across multiple trips, and note that unlike Pacific Vallarta further north, no jacket is really needed here even after dark.

March is the month Acapulco regulars describe as amazing, and the claim they make is unusually absolute: visitors in February and March report never seeing a cloudy day. Our row backs it about as far as a dataset can - 0.6 precipitation days and 10.5mm for the whole month, under 11.2 hours of sun. Their figures of mid-80s to low-90s Fahrenheit by day and low 70s at night sit close to our 33.3C and 20.3C, which reads as 37C in the humidity. On spring break, the position has shifted: it used to define March here and the crowds have largely moved to Cancun and Los Cabos, so the month is quieter than its reputation. The last week of February into the first of March is the sweet spot they name. The record: humidity 71 percent and a 27.5C sea.

April in Acapulco is decided by Semana Santa. Forum regulars say it tops New Year for sheer numbers: everything packed to capacity, bar and restaurant prices up, the Costera bumper to bumper day and night, buses crawling and the pavements jammed. More than one poster has done it twice and will not do it again, on the grounds that walking down the street at night stops being possible. The crowd goes home to Mexico City on Easter Sunday and Monday, and by the middle of the following week the season is over - which is why the advice is to come in the back half of the month. The record: 33.3C days that feel like 37C, 21.2C nights, 0.3 precipitation days, 11.6 hours of sun and a 28.2C sea.

Regulars are specific the rainy season nominally starts around now, though timing has shifted and can slip as late as July, with rain typically falling at night and late-afternoon thunderstorms the norm rather than an all-day soak - most mornings stay genuinely sunny. Our row backs that hot, humid read, 34.3C reading as a scorching 40C, over 22.5C nights, with 22.9mm of rain across 5.2 days and humidity at 72 percent. Regulars are consistent this month can bring cloudy, humid stretches followed by clearer, drier spells, the pattern genuinely inconsistent year to year. Sun protection and hydration remain the standard advice for daytime activities given the intense midday heat. The sea sits at a bath-warm 29.6C. The record: 11.8 hours of sun, a 12.9 kph wind and AQI 61.

Forum posters describe August as hot and humid (90F-plus with matching humidity) and squarely inside the rainy season, with rain on roughly five days a week during the height of summer being the typical pattern per posters citing Mexican weather-service norms. That said, posters are clear most days stay sunny and hot overall, with rain more commonly arriving at night as a heavy but short thunderstorm that clears the air rather than a daytime washout - afternoon or early-evening thundershowers are the other common pattern. Hurricane risk is described as a real but late-season concern, with September-October (not August) named as when Acapulco becomes more of a genuine target for tropical systems - posters note only one major hurricane has struck the city in the past 20 years.

Acapulco-forum threads on December weather describe warm, sticky days in the mid-80s Fahrenheit and rainfall that's dropping off fast from the wetter months earlier in the year, a clear signal the dry season is properly underway. The bigger factor regulars flag for December isn't the weather but the crowd calendar: the run-up to Christmas and the days right after bring domestic Mexican travelers in force, packing beaches and restaurants until the new year. The window regulars recommend threading is December 15th through the 26th, after the first holiday rush but before families head to the coast for New Year's - genuinely quiet by comparison. Late November into early December gets an even stronger recommendation for anyone who can shift dates. The record: 33.4C days feeling like a punishing 38C, 21.1C nights, just 7mm across under two days, a 28.7C sea, 78 percent humidity and 10.2 hours of sun.
