A consistent theme in the wider regional desert-travel discussions: the common assumption that desert nights are simply cold is a bit of a fallacy - it's the relatively high daytime temperatures that make the evening temperature drop feel especially sharp by comparison, even when the absolute night temperature isn't extreme.
