ビザ・入国
A traveler describes At-Turaif in Diriyah, Riyadh's UNESCO World Heritage mud-brick district, as a genuine surprise - restored Najdi architecture and narrow historic streets that felt like stepping back in time while still having modern cafes and restaurants at the entrance. She specifically recommends timing a visit for sunset, watching the city lights come on from one of Diriyah's coffee shops with a scenic view, describing the traditional music drifting through the streets as genuinely moving rather than staged atmosphere. She notes the site runs at two very different paces depending on time of day: quiet and nearly empty during the heat of midday, then noticeably lively in the evening once locals arrive for dinner and the artisan shops open up. Posters generally rate an evening visit to At-Turaif as significantly more atmospheric than a daytime one, with the site's own lighting design specifically built to be seen after dark.

Riyadh forum threads flagged January as genuinely cold for a desert destination, with posters advising visitors come prepared for real chill, particularly once the sun goes down. A consistent theme in the wider regional desert-travel discussions: the common assumption that desert nights are simply cold is a bit of a fallacy - it's the relatively high daytime temperatures that make the evening temperature drop feel especially sharp by comparison, even when the absolute night temperature isn't extreme. December through February were named as the coldest stretch of the year in the region overall, though still comparatively mild set against a genuinely cold winter elsewhere, and the standard advice was warm layers for evenings even while daytime can still feel pleasantly mild in the sun.
Riyadh's forum sits alongside a broader Gulf-region consensus for February: mild, dry days with cool nights, a real jacket useful after dark even though the afternoon feels closer to spring. Dust and haze are the more common complaint regulars raise for the city, more than rain or cold.
Regulars put the outdoor season here from November to late February, which makes March the month it closes rather than one of the good ones. Our row shows the shape of that: 28.4C by day, still reading as a comfortable 25C because the air is desert-dry at 30 percent humidity with a dew point of 1.3C, over nights that fall to 14.8C and feel like 11C. Rain is 5.5mm on a day and a half. The number to weigh is the air - AQI 183, and in a desert spring with a 23.4 kph wind that is dust as much as traffic, which matters more than the temperature for anyone who reacts to it. The record: 10.7 hours of sun inside 12 of daylight.
Asked whether July and August are too hot for the Edge of the World, the escarpment two hours out of Riyadh, regulars didn't say no — they said go late. "On average there's a difference of up to 10°C" between the city and the site, which has "no artificial heat," and "if you arrive a couple of hours before sunset you will find the temperature is quite pleasant." The rest is logistics with no margin: "make sure you go there with a 4x4," book through a company, "keep yourself hydrated," and expect "no washroom or convenience stores to buy ice cold water." Also watch children near the edges. Our record for the city in August is 42.6°C days, 27.8°C nights, essentially zero rain and an AQI of 171 — the desert-dust reading that a comfort score alone won't show you.
