July is the warmest month on the Riga forum's own account, with the caveat locals keep adding: in recent years it has been less dependable, and a July week can still come out wet and chilly. The city stays lively regardless: Christmas markets fill every main square with handmade goods, food and drink under big decorated trees, and posters note there's nearly as much to do in December as any other season, with New Year's Eve counting as a major event of its own.
