ビザ・入国
A guide to visiting Oxford's colleges explains that each one sets its own rules independently: some, like Magdalen, New, and Merton, charge entry fees, while others, including All Souls, St John's, and Corpus Christi, are free to walk into. Their tip for a deeper experience: during summer months many colleges rent out student rooms to visitors, letting you actually stay overnight inside the historic buildings rather than just touring them during the day, and comfortable shoes matter given the uneven, centuries-worn staircases throughout.

Oxford forum regulars keep January modest rather than harsh: highs of at least 10°C, with lows just below 0°C, snow occasionally but only rarely and hardly ever in great amounts. The consistent framing: mild, wet and windy and dark rather than genuinely cold, with rain the far more likely precipitation than snow. On fine days the standard itinerary runs river walks, University Parks, tower climbs, the hop-on-hop-off bus, or day trips to Blenheim Palace, Woodstock or the Cotswolds; on wet days, the Pitt Rivers, Ashmolean and Natural History museums cover the gap. January's real upside: genuinely the quietest month, with few tourists and, for the first couple of weeks, few students either. Our record: 7.1°C days, 1.8°C nights, 9.4 rain days and 1.7cm of snow — mild and wet, matching the “mild, wet, rarely truly cold” read closely.
Oxford forum threads describe February as a genuinely cold stretch, with posters citing typical highs around 10C and lows just below freezing, though the range can run either colder or milder depending on the week. Real snow does occur but was described as rare and rarely heavy, with rain a far more constant presence and posters advising an umbrella and raincoat as year-round essentials rather than February-specific gear. A consistent theme: the weather here is genuinely changeable even within a single day, so posters cautioned against expecting a stable pattern to hold for a whole visit. The standard packing advice was real layers, since a February day here could plausibly deliver rain, snow and sunshine all in the same afternoon.
Oxford's forum calls July warm by UK standards, peaking around 25°C with the occasional day up to 30°C, but nights can still drop to 12-16°C. Regulars are consistent that British summer weather changes day by day, so packing both light layers and an umbrella is the standard advice.
August is peak season here and regulars describe the streets as genuinely hard to walk through in the middle of the day - partly offset by the students being away - with the pressure easing from about the third week and staying easy until the postgraduates return in mid-September. That last fortnight is the answer if you have a choice. On weather they are brief and our row agrees: warm and pleasant at 23.3C over 13.3C, 51.2mm of rain across 7.7 days, and air they describe as barely polluted, which our AQI of 34 supports. Colleges each set their own opening hours and entry charges, so the day needs checking rather than assuming. The record: humidity 74 percent, 9.1 hours of sun and a 19.3 kph wind.
