Ninh Binh's forum doesn't soften June: temperatures pushing toward 38C with brutal humidity are common enough that posters said it genuinely cuts into how much sightseeing you can pack into a day. Thunderstorms can roll through at any hour, usually brief downpours lasting a couple of hours rather than settling in for the whole day. The upside several posters mentioned is timing a visit around the local rice harvest, which adds a striking gold-and-green layer to the karst scenery that isn't there year-round.
