December and January are the forum's prime months for Hampi, and the gap between day and night is the thing to plan around: near 31°C in the sun among the boulders, dropping to about 18 after dark, with effectively no rain. Regulars say air conditioning is not needed in this stretch. October to January is their wider window and the best of it for photography. On crowds, January is peak — school groups included — so several posters aim for the third week, when congestion and prices ease. The Hampi festival also falls in January.

Forum posters describe July in Hampi as hot and humid by day, with temperatures reaching 35C or higher, but note it can drop as low as 20C after a shower or overnight, a real monsoon-driven swing. Posters consistently recommend light cotton clothing, sunscreen and a hat, along with staying hydrated and structuring the day around the heat - sightseeing early morning, an indoor or shaded midday break, then heading back out around 3:30-4pm. Posters offer genuinely mixed views on July as a destination month: some call it difficult once the monsoon properly sets in, while others rate it among the best times to visit specifically because of thinner crowds, cheaper rates and lush green scenery. Posters generally name October through January as the more conventionally ideal window, but July still finds real defenders among value- and scenery-focused visitors.
