At 1,500 meters up, Dalat's cool, foggy mornings were a genuine relief after weeks of lowland Vietnam heat, and we walked everywhere in the city center without breaking a sweat for once. We rented a motorbike with an English-speaking guide for a day and spent it hopping between coffee farms, roasting our own beans at one stop and tasting varieties we'd never heard of at another. Strawberry picking on a hillside farm just outside town turned into an unexpectedly fun afternoon for the whole group. For dinner most nights we skipped the tourist restaurants entirely and ate upstairs at Dalat Market, where a full bowl of noodles cost less than a dollar.
