Da sapere prima di andare a Uadi Rum

Esperienze vere dai racconti dei viaggiatori, citate con il link all'originale.

adventure

We picked a classic Bedouin-style camp over the luxury glamping option specifically for the chance to sit around a fire drinking endless cups of sweet tea with our hosts, which turned into the best evening of the whole Jordan trip. The jeep tour covered rock arches and red dune fields we'd never have found walking, followed by a short camel ride back toward camp as the light went gold. The temperature swing genuinely caught us off guard, shorts and sunscreen by midday, thermal layers by the time we sat down for dinner. Packing with just a duffel bag rather than a rolling suitcase made moving through the soft sand around camp far easier.

Note dei viaggiatori su Uadi Rum

Cosa dice chi c'è stato: prima le note valide tutto l'anno, poi mese per mese.

Wadi Rum's forum calls March good for desert hiking — days around 20°C, nights dropping 10-15 degrees cooler. Regulars flag the 'khamsini' spring wind phenomenon as a genuine wildcard, capable of bringing a hot, dusty spell for a day or two before clearing back to calm conditions, and note that while rare, winter weather including rain or even a little snow can still turn up this early in spring.

Wadi Rum-forum threads on the best time to visit are consistent spring, including April, sits among the strongest stretches of the year, warm, comfortable days without the punishing peak-summer heat that makes daytime desert activity genuinely tough between June and August. Posters describe nights in the desert camps as still turning noticeably cool, a real jacket or extra blanket worth having regardless of how warm the day ran, especially for anyone bedding down under the stars rather than in an enclosed tent. Regulars call a 4x4 jeep tour combined with an overnight camp stay the standard way to experience the red-sand landscape, camel treks a slower, more traditional alternative for shorter distances. Clear, dry skies are called the norm this time of year, genuinely excellent for stargazing once night falls over the open desert. The record: 26.3C days feeling like 25C, 12.3C nights, a low 34 percent humidity and 10.9 hours of sun.

Regulars call full-day tours still doable despite the heat, operators building a longer lunch break to wait out the worst hours. Posters describe the desert as cooling considerably once the sun goes down, nighttime readings dropping to a comfortable range by comparison. Regulars call Bedouin camp tents without fans, AC or electricity the standard setup, real heat tolerance necessary for anyone staying overnight in July. Posters recommend real sun protection and far more water than feels necessary regardless of activity. Regulars call the landscape still worth the heat for most visitors, sunrise and sunset both more comfortable windows for exploring. The record: 34.8C days feeling like 35C, 20.8C nights, effectively no measurable precipitation and 35 percent humidity.

Forum posters describe early September daytime shade temperatures still around 100F, easing to more comfortable levels by mid-month, with nights cooling to around 70F - a real day-to-night swing worth packing layers for. Posters note desert touring remains manageable even on a hot day thanks to a fairly constant breeze and tour operators building in a long midday break in the shade, resuming once the worst of the afternoon heat passes. Posters consistently recommend spending time outdoors specifically in the evening once temperatures drop, calling the cooler desert nights one of the most enjoyable parts of a September visit.

Wadi Rum-forum threads on camping in the desert call October genuinely the standout month, posters describing the brutal summer heat finally breaking and daytime conditions turning comfortable for full days among the rock formations. Regulars call a Bedouin-run camp the standard way to overnight, canvas tents and open-air setups both common, real desert silence named repeatedly as the highlight once the generators switch off. Posters describe the diurnal swing as considerable, warm days giving way to a genuinely brisk night chill once the sun drops, a proper layer standing advice for anyone sitting out under the stars. Regulars call jeep tours and the walk up Jebel Um ad Ami both doable comfortably now, summer's heat no longer a limiting factor. Posters recommend a licensed local operator over independent transport. The record: 28.2C days feeling like 27C, 15.9C nights, a scant 2.7mm across under a day of measurable precipitation and a low 45 percent humidity.

November in Wadi Rum is the desert's classic split, and the forum gives the numbers: days warm and balmy around 20C, nights around 8C and breezy enough to want a jacket. The consensus is that it is manageable rather than an ordeal - the camps light a fire in the evening and the tents come with thick blankets - and the packing list is specific: trousers, a jumper, socks, a fleece or jacket for after dark, and something warm to sleep in if the camp has no heating. Layers you can take on and off through the day do the rest. The record: 22.1C days against 10.5C nights, humidity 50 percent, 1.3 precipitation days and 9.5 hours of sun.
