A walled red city on the edge of the Atlas foothills, built around a souk, a square and courtyards designed to keep the sun out. Ramadan and the Eid holidays move about eleven days earlier each year.

Com'è ogni mese a Marrakech

Scritto dalla redazione di SeasonMap in base a quello che succede davvero sul posto, non alle medie.

  1. gennaio

Cold nights and bright dry days. The Atlas is under snow and visible from the roof terraces, and riads without heating feel it.

    shoulder

  2. febbraio

Almond blossom comes out in the valleys south of the city, and by lunchtime it is warm enough to sit outside.

    blossomshoulder

  3. marzo

The best month in the medina: warm afternoons, cool nights, and the passes over the Atlas reopening.

    shoulder

  4. aprile

Roses are harvested in the Dades valley through April and May, Easter week (movable) fills the riads, and the heat is on its way.

    harvestpeak

  5. maggio

Warm and dry, still comfortable in the shade. Snowmelt makes it the month for the mountain valleys and the waterfalls.

    shoulder

  6. giugno

Real heat arrives. Life shifts to early morning and late evening, and the main square only works after sunset.

    peak

  7. luglio

Dry extreme heat, made worse when the chergui blows off the Sahara. The city empties and visitors head for the coast.

    peak

  8. agosto

The hottest and emptiest month. Restaurants close, and the pool rather than the medina becomes the plan for the day.

    closedpeak

  9. settembre

The heat eases late in the month, and the date harvest starts in the oases south of the mountains.

    harvestshoulder

  10. ottobre

One of the two best months: warm days, cool nights, and long low light over the walls.

    shoulder

  11. novembre

Comfortable and clear, with the first rain of the year possible and the first snow on the Atlas behind the city.

    shoulder

  12. dicembre

Bright days and cold nights over a busy holiday fortnight; the mountains are white and the street orange trees are in fruit.

Da sapere prima di andare a Marrakech

Esperienze vere dai racconti dei viaggiatori, citate con il link all'originale.

Usanze e galateo

A traveler who's haggled repeatedly in Morocco's souks shares a concrete rule of thumb from experience: whatever price a shopkeeper first quotes, you can typically get it down to a third or half of that and the shop is still making good money - the initial number is deliberately inflated as an opening move, not a real anchor. Their practical approach: smile, stay polite, and if a counteroffer doesn't feel right, simply walk away - more often than not you'll be called back with a better price before you've gone far. They also recommend browsing a fixed-price government shop like an Ensemble Artisanal first, purely to get an honest sense of what items are actually worth before entering the souk itself.

Note dei viaggiatori su Marrakech

Cosa dice chi c'è stato: prima le note valide tutto l'anno, poi mese per mese.

Regulars describe genuine year-to-year swings this month, some visits landing nice and warmish with only lightly cold nights, others hitting a stretch close to freezing every day with a couple of days of actual freezing rain thrown in. Our row backs that mild-by-day, cold-by-night read, 21C over 6.3C nights feeling 3C, with rain light at 18.6mm across 3.2 days and humidity at 61 percent. Regulars are consistent this counts as the coldest stretch of the year here, layers and a raincoat the standard advice given how much the day-to-night and altitude-driven swings can vary. Riads without central heating can feel genuinely cold after dark, worth checking before booking. The record: 9.1 hours of sun, a 12.1 kph wind and AQI 40.

Regulars quote a line about Morocco that explains February better than any figure: a cold country with a hot sun. The nights drop hard - our row has 8.3C feeling like 5C, and visitors report 3 to 5C - while the days, with more than three hundred days of sun a year behind them, warm to something pleasant by midday. Their 18 to 24C brackets our 22.7C average high. The practical advice follows: pack layers, check the hotel heats its rooms and its public spaces, and expect the pool drained or too cold to use. February can also be a wet month or a cold one throughout, at 33.9mm across 5.4 days. The record: humidity 59 percent, 9.6 hours of sun and AQI 42.

March is a month the Marrakech forum likes without reservation - mostly sunny, rain unlikely, mid-to-late 20s by day - with one repeated warning: the early mornings and the evenings are a different climate, and visitors keep being surprised by how sharply the night drops. The packing consensus is thin layers, not bulk: t-shirts, a jumper, a thin fleece, a thin waterproof shell, a scarf, and a jacket specifically for the evening, carried in a daypack so you can shed it all by mid-morning. A jumper or coat for after dark is treated as non-negotiable. The record bears out the swing: 24.1C days against 10.5C nights, 7.8 precipitation days and 41.9mm, humidity near 62 percent, 10.4 hours of sun, AQI 37.

A Morocco-based blogger named Malika calls April the true start of Marrakech's peak season — blissful temperatures, she says, but a medina that gets genuinely crowded and pricier to match. Her practical read: escape the crowds with a day trip outside the city rather than fighting the Jemaa el-Fnaa rush.

April is the last comfortable month before the furnace. Mornings in the medina are cool, afternoons hit the high 20s, and the Atlas still has snow on it from the Kasbah rooftops. May onward I'd only go with a pool.

Forum regulars call October one of the best months to visit Marrakesh - past the worst of summer's heat but before winter's chill, without the high humidity that can make other destinations uncomfortable at similar temperatures. Typical days run warm, sometimes hot enough that posters describe skipping the poolside sun at midday, with evenings turning noticeably cooler. One repeated caveat: October weather here is genuinely unpredictable year to year, with on-record swings from 6C to 43C, so posters are careful to frame their own trip reports as one data point rather than a guarantee.

November in Marrakech is a good month with a catch the forum repeats without variation: whatever the day does, the night will be cold. Their daytime figures of 18 to 24C sit just under our row's 25.1C average high, and their evening figures of 10 to 12C are our 11.2C almost exactly - which in practice means a jacket after dark and the end of eating outside. The days themselves are unpredictable year to year, one visitor reporting 12 to 18C and another 26 to 36C in the same month, and a third getting sunbathing weather most days with rain one afternoon and several evenings. Our row's 21mm across 4.3 days is the modest version. The record: humidity 58 percent, 9 hours of sun and AQI 40.

The December question on this board is never the daytime, it is the night and the building. Regulars warn that many riads have no heating at all, so the coldest hours are the ones spent indoors - ask before booking, and reversible air conditioning beats waiting for somebody to come and light a fire. Our row shows why: 22C by day against only 7.8C at night, and the feels-like columns widen the gap further, 19C against 5C. Days can be mild enough for a t-shirt or cold enough for a jacket, and a wet spell is possible at 29.3mm across 5.1 days. Layers, a waterproof, and something warm to sleep in. The record: humidity 67 percent, 8.6 hours of sun and AQI 39.
