Paraty's forum is direct that December through March is both the hottest and wettest stretch of the year here, the opposite of the drier June-August winter. The typical pattern posters describe is a run of a few hot, sunny days good for beach-hopping around Ilha Grande, then a few days of rain - usually building through the afternoon rather than an all-day soak - though some visitors have hit genuinely extended wet stretches around the holidays. It's a real trade-off: peak heat and lushness against a real chance of your beach days getting interrupted.

Forum posters describe July as genuinely dry and sunny for Paraty - blue skies are the norm, with a real stretch of three consecutive rainy days called unlikely even if the odd cloudy day shows up. That said, posters are consistent this isn't beach weather: July is winter across most of Brazil outside the northeast, and the water around Paraty and nearby Ilha Grande runs distinctly cold and even colder than nearby Buzios' at the same time of year.
