We joined the free walking tour that leaves from City Hall at 11am and it turned out to be the right way to get oriented before wandering the Old Town on our own later. Plovdiv is built across seven hills and the cobbled streets get genuinely steep in places, so comfortable shoes mattered more than we expected.
