Jordan's forum consistently rates October as one of the best months for visiting sites like Jerash: warm, balmy days without the punishing heat of summer, cool breezy evenings that call for just a light fleece, and rain that essentially doesn't start until November. Multiple posters recommended layers specifically because the desert-adjacent evening breeze can catch you off guard even after a genuinely hot day. Since Jerash's ruins offer almost no shade, the milder October sun makes a real difference for a full day of walking the site.
Forum posters call April genuinely excellent for Jordan generally - spring weather with wildflowers covering the hills, not hot and not cold - though they note this is also peak season, meaning higher prices and busier sites, especially around Easter. One real caveat worth knowing: recent years have brought notably wetter March/early-April stretches, with rain tapering off more reliably toward the end of the month, so exact timing within April can matter. For Jerash specifically, posters recommend budgeting at least two hours to properly see the ruins, noting the site technically closes at 4pm but allows visitors already inside to stay until sunset - it's commonly paired with Petra, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea and other sites on a week-long Jordan itinerary.
