That same wind can be strong enough to rough up the surf at popular spots like Meads Bay, though posters note calmer alternatives sit just a 5-15 minute drive away among the island's roughly three dozen beaches. Crowds run lighter than the December-February peak while restaurants and activities (stand-up paddleboarding, tennis, golf, nature tours) stay fully open, making March a popular pick for travelers escaping northern winters without the highest-season prices or crowds.
