We booked a taxi in Morondava for about 20 dollars round trip to the Avenue of the Baobabs, timed deliberately for sunset when the low light turns the trunks copper and gold and the shadows stretch dramatically across the dirt road. There's no entrance fee at all, just a small kiosk selling overpriced drinks near the visitor center, which we skipped in favor of bringing our own water.
