Wizy i wjazd

A traveler visiting Cape Town in August found the Table Mountain cableway closed for the entire length of their stay, having not realized the cableway closes every year for a scheduled maintenance shutdown - typically a window in July-August - regardless of what the actual weather is doing that week. Separately, the cableway is also genuinely weather-dependent day to day even outside the maintenance window, closing whenever strong wind makes operation unsafe, which happens often enough in Cape Town's exposed setting to be a real planning factor. The lesson from travelers caught out by this: check the official Table Mountain website for both the current live cableway status and the published maintenance closure dates (announced two to three years in advance) before building a Cape Town itinerary around Table Mountain specifically.

Relacje podróżnych — Kapsztad

Co mówią o tym miejscu ci, którzy tam byli — najpierw relacje na cały rok, potem miesiąc po miesiącu.

* The months of summer are from December to February. The days are mostly hot but low in humidity, so you shouldn't feel uncomfortable. Stay indoors or at least in the shade during the midday heat and use adequate sunblock. International tourists jostle for space on the beach with the domestic beach-goers around the peak holiday period (16 December - 16 January). However, it is still an exciting and eventful time to be in Cape Town. * The months of winter from June to August are rather wet. It does not rain every single day though it can sometimes rain for two weeks straight. It can also get very chilly at night, with the mercury dropping to as low as 2°C (this temperature is colder than the sea so it should not get any colder unless you head inland) but 5°C is more typical. It warms during the day, with typical temperatures between 9°C. The winters tend to be overcast with not as much sunshine. Daylight hours run from 07:45 to 17:45. * The ideal times to see the city are:…

February is peak summer and peak wind. The southeaster (the 'Cape Doctor') can blow for three days straight and shut the Table Mountain cableway — always have a plan B. Sea temperature on the Atlantic side is about 14°C; Muizenberg on the False Bay side is the swimmable one.

April is late autumn here, and regulars put a rough number on the unpredictability: about seven days out of thirty might not be great, the first of the winter cold fronts arriving without much warning and turning a warm afternoon into jeans-and-a-jacket weather within hours. Our row backs the mild majority, 24.3C over 12.8C with 25.1mm of rain across 4.3 days, in a summer wind that has mostly abated by now at 19.9 kph. On the sea they are consistent across seasons: the Atlantic side runs cold whatever month it is, and our column's 14.6C confirms it - the warmer swimming is on the other side of the peninsula, not this one. The record: humidity 75 percent, 9.7 hours of sun and AQI 74.

Cape Town forum regulars call May shoulder season heading into winter — genuinely unpredictable, but “still doable” and noticeably cheaper as low season sets in. Daytime highs sit around 20°C, nights closer to 9°C, and while it's technically entering the rainy season, “even in a wet month there are usually only 9-10 days with rain,” which leaves up to three weeks without any. Standard packing advice is a jacket or sweater as a top layer over long sleeves, with a cardigan and second jacket as backup. The value case regulars make repeatedly: travel outside Easter season into May and rates drop while the weather still holds up well. Our record: 19.3°C days, 11.7°C nights, 6.2 rain days and a 13.7°C sea — mild with real dry stretches, matching the “shoulder season, mostly fine” read.

Cape Town forum regulars call August one of the poorer weather months, genuinely mixed rather than uniformly bad: “maximum temperatures around 17°C and reasonably high chances of rain,” but “unlike European winters, bad weather days typically last only 2-3 days before glorious sunny days follow.” A typical week mixes “lovely bright sunny days with temperatures up to 20°C” against others that are wet and windy, nights running 5-10°C. Standard packing: a genuinely waterproof and windproof jacket, beanie, fleece, layers. The trade regulars actually recommend the month for: whale-watching season, wildflower displays north of the city, cheaper rates and quieter restaurants still running their winter specials. Our record: 16.4°C days, 9.1°C nights, 9 rain days and 59.6mm of rain — cool and genuinely wet nearly a third of the days, matching the “mixed, not uniformly bad” read.

October starts the south-easter season and regulars say plainly that this city rarely has a day without wind - usually under a sunny sky and not a cold wind, but often a strong one. Our row measures 23.2 kph against 23.6C days and evenings of 12 to 15C that want a thin sweater. The consequence is a timetable for the thing everyone comes for: the south-easter pushes cloud over Table Mountain through the afternoon, so mornings and evenings are the reliable windows, and the cable car is best before eight, ahead of the tour buses. Mid-spring, so still some flowers and still occasionally chilly. The record: 17.6mm across 3.8 days, 11.7 hours of sun and a 15.2C sea.

Cape Town's forum agrees on one thing about November: it's genuinely unpredictable, year to year, from a fortnight of glorious sun to over a week of rain and gales. Most regulars still call it an excellent month overall — just pack for both.
Tripadvisor community · listopad · 7 dni temu · Więcej: Tripadvisor ↗
Regulars are specific that the strong southeasterly wind this month doesn't hit every beach equally - Bantry Bay and Clifton stay largely sheltered, while Camps Bay and Fish Hoek take the brunt of it, a real, checkable reason to pick one beach over another for a calmer day. Our row backs the warm, windy read, 26.3C over 15.9C nights, with rain minimal at 17.4mm across 3.7 days and a real 25.8 kph wind. Regulars are consistent the sea itself runs genuinely cold on the Atlantic side regardless of the warm air, cold enough that packing a few light layers for cooler, wind-blown evenings makes sense even in the height of summer. The sea sits at 14.2C. The record: humidity 68 percent, 12.9 hours of sun and AQI 60.
