adventure
We started at Jacking Horse near Cloud 9 rather than the famous break itself, since it's genuinely more forgiving for anyone not already an experienced surfer, and only paddled out at Cloud 9 to watch once we understood how hollow and powerful those waves actually break over the reef. Reef booties turned out to be non-negotiable, one member of our group who skipped them picked up a coral cut on the first day. We came in April for the calmer conditions rather than the stronger September-to-November swells, which suited our still-improving skills better. The three-island boat tour to Naked, Daku and Guyam was the perfect rest day between surf sessions.
Catatan pelancong tentang Pulau Siargao
Kata mereka yang pernah ke sana — catatan sepanjang tahun lebih dulu, lalu bulan demi bulan.
Forum posters describe March as the start of Siargao's summer peak season and a genuine improvement on the wetter December-February stretch, with clearer, more reliably sunny conditions becoming more common from March into June - though posters are direct that being in the tropics means rain or even a passing storm remains a real possibility, with one visitor specifically recalling a typhoon passing through during a March stay. The destination's own climate data shows March still averaging well over 20 rainy days, easing only modestly from the January-February peak and continuing to improve into the true driest stretch around April-September. Posters also flag March as the end of the school year, meaning more crowds at Siargao's popular beaches and surf spots than the quieter months surrounding it. Posters generally rate March as improving but still genuinely rain-prone for Siargao, with the driest conditions still a couple of months off.
September and October are Siargao's peak surf months — the waves are good, competitions run in September, and Cloud 9 works on Pacific swell. The forum's typhoon answer is geographic: Siargao sits in the southern Philippines, near the equator and outside the main typhoon belt, so when the Visayas are being hit Mindanao is often bright and sunny — though the island is close enough to Leyte that a storm passing nearby still matters. On rain, regulars note September is drier here than January, while the record still shows about seventeen wet days. Days near 29°C, nights 27, sea at 30.
