A local's guide to Portimão recommends one of the seafood restaurants right at the marina for a relaxed lunch with views across the river to Ferragudo, rather than eating further inland away from the water. Their timing tip for the best atmosphere: come to the marina in early evening once the day's heat has eased, grab a drink from a nearby café, and watch the river catch the sunset light, a noticeably calmer scene than the marina's busier midday crowds.

Forum posters describe June temperatures building through the month - typically 24-25C early on, climbing to 27-30C by the end - with genuinely warm, sunny days the norm and rain called unusual. One visitor's mid-June report described perfect, hot and sunny weather with a pleasant sea breeze and no cloud cover. Posters do note a real evening chill factor: a sudden drop from 27C daytime down to around 20C once the sun sets and a breeze picks up, so a light layer for the evening is standard advice even during an otherwise hot stretch. The clear appeal of June specifically: pleasant, reliably warm weather without the full crowds and peak prices of July-August.
Portimão's forum describes December as changeable but mild by northern European standards - typical days around 17C, occasionally reaching 20C, dropping to 8-10C overnight. Rain shows up regularly but posters were clear it's not an all-day, every-day thing, and the prevailing northerly wind is the bigger factor in how cold a day actually feels. For a rainy day, several people pointed to Portimão's indoor shopping malls, while clear days are good for trips inland to Silves, Monchique or the Foia mountain. Most cafes and restaurants stay open through the off-season.
