A traveler paragliding from Babadağ mountain above Ölüdeniz, consistently rated among the best paragliding sites in the world at roughly 1,957m launch height, admits she wasn't scared of the flight itself but genuinely frightened by the takeoff moment - essentially having to run off the edge of the mountain in tandem with an instructor before the wind catches the glider. Once airborne, she describes the flight as genuinely breathtaking, with sweeping views over Ölüdeniz's turquoise lagoon, the coastline and surrounding mountains during a leisurely descent all the way down to the beach. She notes the drive up to the launch point takes about 40 minutes from the beach and is generally relaxed and scenic in its own right, worth treating as part of the experience rather than just transit. Posters generally rate the takeoff run as the single most nerve-wracking few seconds of the whole activity, with the actual flight itself far calmer and more scenic than the anxious anticipation beforehand suggests.
