A guide to Corfu's UNESCO-listed Old Town recommends experiencing it in early morning or evening specifically, once the day-trippers and cruise passengers have cleared out, since the atmosphere genuinely shifts once the alleyways and piazzas aren't packed. Their beach-timing tip applied the same logic to Agios Spiridon in Paleokastritsa: its turquoise water and green cliffs draw crowds fast, so arriving early is the only reliable way to see it without a packed shoreline, and May-June or September-October were flagged as the best months overall for warm weather without peak-season congestion.
ملاحظات المسافرين عن قرفس
ما يقوله من زاروا المكان — الملاحظات على مدار السنة أولًا، ثم شهرًا بشهر.
The climate of the archipelago of Corfu is warm Mediterranean. The summer here is warm and relatively dry with a blue sky, often cooled by seasonal breezes, offering the ideal conditions for surfing, while rarely is it interrupted by rains. The mountainous areas are cooler. The winter here is mild. Rainfall occurs mainly from November till March. On average, there are 3000 hours of sun per year with an average daily sunshine duration of 8½ hours. {| class="wikitable" style="margin:1em;float:right;text-align:center;" |+ Hours of sunshine !| ||Apr||May||Jun||Jul||Aug||Sept||Oct |- !Corfu |7||10||12||12||11||9||6 |} Spring here is impressive and offers visitors the privilege to enjoy the wealth of vegetation and colours, combined with high-taste tourism. Easter celebration here becomes the experience of a lifetime. Summer is the most popular season for Corfu, with beautiful beaches and crystal water for unconcerned hours on the beach.…
Forum posters call March still winter on Corfu - cool and wet is the baseline expectation, part of why the Ionian islands stay so green, with real day-to-day variability: some days warm and sunny, others cold, wet and windy. Daytime can reach around 19C but evenings turn cold enough that a cardigan alone won't cut it - a proper warm fleece and closed shoes get recommended, along with checking that accommodation has real central heating rather than just air conditioning. Most beach-resort infrastructure is shut for the season, so posters steer March visitors toward Corfu Town specifically, which keeps a large year-round population and stays open with plenty of hotels, shops and restaurants regardless of the month.
Regulars call this potentially the very best month here, but the least predictable one too, capable of a warm, sunny stretch or genuinely cold, wet and windy days within the same visit - the island's western position facing wetter conditions than the Greek mainland's east side compounds that risk. Our row backs that mild, still-showery read, 21.1C over 10.9C nights, with 61.6mm of rain across 8.5 days and humidity at 76 percent. Regulars are consistent shorts and a t-shirt suit the day while long trousers and a jacket become necessary once evening arrives, a waterproof layer genuinely essential rather than optional. The sea sits at a cold 16.3C, not yet warm enough for most to swim comfortably. The record: 11 hours of sun, a 13.2 kph wind and AQI 48.
May divides this board along one question, whether the sea is swimmable. Some report the last two weeks perfectly fine; others call it a quick dip and out; everyone agrees it does not properly warm until mid-June, and that the west coast runs cooler again. They put the water near 21C and our column is colder still at 18.9C, so the cautious half is the one to plan on. The genuinely useful detail is their comparison: an unheated pool in May is colder than the sea, which makes a heated one worth asking about before booking. Air is 24.5C reading as 26C over 14.7C nights, with 65.8mm of rain across 9.1 days and thunderstorms possible between long sunny spells. The record: humidity 79 percent, 11.7 hours of sun and AQI 54.
June is the month Corfu regulars recommend for the gap it sits in: the season has been running since mid-to-late April so everything is open, but this is not yet the July and August crush. Nowhere is overly busy, with the exception they all name - Paleokastritsa, which fills with coach trips through the day and is far busier than somewhere like Kassiopi. The weather is mostly clear and mid-to-high 20s, our row giving 29.2C, though they are honest that a June of torrential rain does happen and is not that unusual. On the sea, 24C in our row, the split is geographic: the west coast runs colder than the east, and mid-June opinion divides between warm bath water and not warm enough. The record: 19.6C nights, 4.9 precipitation days carrying 28.3mm and 13.1 hours of sun.
Corfu-forum regulars split July in two: the first half is the gentler one, the second runs to mid-30s days with evenings that barely drop, and the occasional spell into the 40s. Humidity adds to it, though posters are quick to say Corfu is one of the cooler Greek islands next to the Aegean. The standing advice is to restructure the day rather than endure it - indoors through the worst of the afternoon, beach in the early evening the way locals do - and to stay near the water, where the sea breeze does the work. Early July is also noticeably less crowded than August, though popular beaches like Moraitika fill regardless. The record: 31.9C days that feel like 36C, 21.8C nights, 2.1 precipitation days, 13.4 hours of sun and a 25.9C sea.
Asked whether August is much hotter than July, regulars answer that on average it is barely different, and that the difference which matters is the crowd - UK school holidays and the Italian August break land together, so it is the busiest and dearest month of the year and early July costs little in weather to avoid it. The heat is real at the top end, up to 40C on the worst days, with our row at 32.4C reading as 37C. Two mitigations they mention: a breeze at night, and the cloudy or stormy couple of days that August usually throws in, flash storms at sea that take the temperature down. Our 28mm falls across 4.2 days. The record: 22.2C nights, 12.5 hours of sun and a 25.8C sea.
Corfu in September keeps summer going — days near 25°C, the sea still very warm at about 26°C and often swimmable into late October — but the forum is clear that the pattern is starting to shift, and a storm becomes possible, especially towards the end of the month. Days stay sunny and warm with cooler evenings, and it is only right at the end of September into early October that daytime temperatures really begin to fall. The trade-off regulars like: noticeably fewer tourists and a chilled end-of-season feel, set against some restaurants beginning to close.
